Growing up, my parents would frequently remind me that I am the sum of my closest friends. It’s a common adage, but it’s one I’ve always taken to heart. In business, I’ve been careful to audit both my mentors and partners, to ensure I am only surrounding myself with individuals who reflect my values and push me towards integrity. Because, whether we like it or not, perception is reality and proximity is endorsement. When you stand next to someone for long enough, their reputation starts to rub off on you, for better or for worse.
